Newlywed Shoot

Being engaged and working at Brides.com, I can't help but get excited about planning my own wedding. I'm inspired by everything on the site, especially all the amazing photos in the Real Weddings Gallery. So when I started planning my own wedding, photography took center stage as the most important element of our wedding day.

Once I booked my photographer, I began to map out all the places I wanted to take pictures. As the list grew I became concerned about whether or not... we could squeeze all the locations into the one-hour break between the ceremony and reception. Some grooms are choosing to break with tradition and see their fiance before she walks down the aisle in order to take portraits before the ceremony. I thought this was a great alternative to using the cocktail hour for pictures, but my fiance disagreed. To my surprise, he's rather traditional. He wants to wait until the church doors opens to see me. Adorable? Yes. But I was back to my original predicament.

To solve our problem our photographer suggested a Newlywed Shoot. The idea is to meet after the wedding - in all of our wedding attires - and take photographs without time restraints. And because you don't have to worry about getting dirt on your clothes, you can take all those shots you wouldn't have dared posed for before the reception- like running in the surf or climbing a tree with your new hubby.

A Newlywed Shoot is stress-free fun. No worrying about getting a grass stain on your dress or rushing to get to your guests. Plus, it's an excuse to wear your dress again! Could there be a better incentive? —Kate Cavanna
